Fleurs De Villes - 2017, Mayfair Mall and Fairmont Empress Hotel, Vancouver Island

It's always such a blast to do something a little out of the ordinary and Fleurs De Villes does it everytime.  It was our second year participating in the show which is now a show which is spread across Canada!  This year we are asked to produce two mannequins (eep!), one of which was to be displayed at The Fairmont Empress and One displayed at the Mayfair Mall.  Let me tell you it was an intense few days leading up to installation day!  I had my very trusty Emma McCormick Creative Planning & Production by my side to assist with ANYTHING I needed from cutting chicken wire, to soaking oasis, to actually placing in blooms.  I can't thank her enough.  So, let's talk about our Fairmont Empress Installation first.  I was very inspired by the thought of a guest arriving for a stay at the iconic hotel and whom better to think of then Kate Middleton (whom recently visited our great city of Victoria).  I began my research and studied her clothing when she was visiting.  She wore a beautifully fitted jacket as she landed off one of Harbour Air's Seaplanes, with her stunning children by her side wearing red accents.  She wore a beautiful Silver Canadian Pin adorned on her jacket which of course we mimicked as well.  No detail was left out.  Our replica was made from fresh flowers, mainly white button mums, peach hypericum berries acted as the jackets detailing and finished her with a stunning red fascinator and dusty miller shoes.  We even borrowed a friends vintage luggage to fill with flowers as well!

Mayfair Malls mannequin was awesomely sponsored by Tourism BC!  Thank you guys!  We went for a more rebel, jungle type of design including vibrant viburnum, mokara orchids, lavender, mustard and hot pink roses, anemone, tropical greens and hyerpicum berries for texture.  I was inspired by birch bark, mo-hawks and tropical blooms.  She was fierce!  Have a look.

We can't thank Fluers De Villes enough for allowing us to be apart of the show.  People often ask how in the world this show is on for 4 days!  It takes a lot of hard work and determination, extreme wizardry, professional mechanics and a true understanding of flowers to pull this off.  I give my hats off to all the fellow florists who devote their time to such awesome artistry.  Well done Victoria!
